Notifications on different devices

I play lichess games on a couple of shared computers at home and also on my mobile, where I generally use the app. Recently I have been playing correspondence games and I like to receive notifications when my opponents have moved.

However, I have not found a way to receive them on my mobile but not on a computer, where I am logged in to the web page. I had thought that closing the page should achieve this, but it would appear not.

Do I have to log out, or is there some way of having my settings so that I do not get notifications on a computer but I do get them via the mobile app?

All desktop browsers allow users to control which websites can notify them. This is usually set in a privacy / site settings area within browser preferences. Look for how to do this on google or tell us your browser and maybe another user can walk you through it.

I use Chrome. What's confusing me is that when I changed the site settings on a computer, I seemed to stop getting notifications on the app.

Rather than use lichess preferences to disable notifications entirely, you may configure chrome to disable them on your desktop browser using the popup control in the left of the address bar:

I get notifed on app (ios) and on lichess itself. but I have windows 10 desktop notificatoin out. I find that works well. I do not like the loud notification on the desktop. There is also the emailing lichess preference that might make it noticeable if one has email software on vigil in both types of devices. The read status might be propagated but the message would persist.

And now for some derailment, maybe one device to rule them all, in the wet brain, some oxidative (or other reactivity) metal works.

I would rather have a centralized place of notify I can decide to look at, rather than have all the phones ring at the same time. The internet of things can become unbearable, and yet we would not notice.

But I welcome another correspondence player. Some kind of parallel games going on, slow motion simultaneous, if you take a break and have the wrong day contrast, one might get lost.

Finding the time controls regime that suits your non-chess life, might be needing trial and errors.. And might need to be adapted, a life keeps going where we can't control it.

Ah, thanks for that, I didn't know that was there. I've followed your advice, we'll see what happens.
