The captchas need to accommodate the novice, who just learned how the pieces move; maybe even the parent, who never learned how they move. Ten seconds for a club player is an eternity for them.

I would make the Captcha mate in 2.
That would probably solve many of the problems in the forum...

Yeah exactly, I feel like people here are totally missing the point and are basically just using this as an opportunity to score internet points by making fun of me a little.

Well then, in behalf of him, I say 'skill issue'.
I feel like you and several other people here are just trying to score internet point by making jokes rather than addressing the point here

OP didn't say they couldn't solve the captcha puzzle; they said it took them 10 seconds. So perhaps the more relevant question is whether spending 10 seconds on a captcha puzzle before submitting a comment is really supposed to be such a big problem that it would deserve a forum topic.
Forum is called Lichess feedback and that is my feedback. I think removing the captcha makes the website a better place.

We are addressing the issue, which is your skill. As you can see, various people want the captchas to be harder. In fact, its built in the way that novices should try to get better and then post. Anyway, Mate In One is the literal easiest tactic in chess, and if you want something easier, just refresh. If you still can't even solve it, there is a literal page to the solution. So your problem is rather nonexistent. And don't go saying 10 seconds is alot of time, the time you took to read this post was 10 seconds or greater.

I don't think the behaviour of people in the forum correlates so well with their chess skills in general.

I am just responding to you implying it doesn't deserve a forum topic. The forum is for feedback and I gave my feedback, so I am using the forum how it is intended.

@chesspanda6 What?
CAPTCHAs aren’t meant to make someone a better player before they post; they’re meant to block spam bots.

No, the issue is not my skill. I am making the post about how other people could have difficulty with it as well, not just me. The puzzle is noticeably harder than all other captchas and doesn't fit in. I could have solved it in 2 seconds and the point would have still been the same, it is harder than other captchas. I have never seen a discovery captcha. It is an inconvenience. You also didn't address how you guys are clearly trying to score internet points and make fun of me, which I don't appreciate.
Edit: Maybe I overreacted, but idk I still felt like my post warranted a bit of a more serious and genuine response
