Import game not working

Trying to import the PGN attached below does not work. No error message is reported. The PGN can be read with no problems in other softwares.

PGN import seems kind of broken right now... Doesn't seem to handle Windows CRLF newlines at all.

Remove all the other stuff (including all newlines) and just import the moves:

  1. d4 e6 2. e4 d5 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. e5 c5 5. a3 Bxc3+ 6. bxc3 cxd4 7. cxd4 Nc6 8. Nf3 Nge7 9. Bd3 O-O 10. O-O a6 11. Bxh7+ Kxh7 12. Ng5+ Kg8 13. Qh5 Re8 14. Qxf7+ Kh8 15. Qh5+ Kg8 16. Qh7+ Kf8 17. Qh8+ Ng8 18. Re1 Nxd4 19. Nh7+ Kf7 20. Re3 Qa5 21. Ng5+ Kf8 22. Bb2 Nxc2 23. Rf3+ Ke7 24. Qxg7+ Kd8 25. Bc3 Qb5 26. Rc1 Qe2 27. Ba5+ b6 28. Bxb6# 1-0

Urgh, thank you guys, this was driving me mad. I was trying everything to get it to work, thinking I was doing something wrong or some standard was being broken.

Here is a handy tool to sanitize your PGNs until they get this fixed server-side:

https://onlinetexttools.com/convert-newlines-to-spaces

  • Paste your dirty, filthy pgn into the "text with newlines" box
  • Click "copy to clipboard" under the "text with spaces" box

Now you can paste into lichess import.

A fix has already been applied, so you shouldn't have to worry about this after the next server update.
