Hi,
If it is mate in 1, and I have pre-moved mate, can the game end? Often opponents will chose to stall in this scenario when no matter what they do it's over. Here is an example where I had to wait about 6min while the opponent had 2 moves (Kf8 or Kh8), and I pre-moved Qg7#.

Then you could spam premoves and unintentionally discover a checkmate.

technically yeah, but seems pretty unlikely and that would be very risky anyway if they move then you get locked in. You could also set a timer or something, similar to what they do when opponents leave the game.

It wouldn't be risky if your opponent is stalling you.
In addition, setting a timer is effectively taking away the opponents' time that they have a right to.
You do not even know if they are stalling or simply trying to find a way out of checkmate.

How does that prevent stalling?
How does that prevent stalling?

Because you win when you premove mate and they can't stop it

It doesn't matter if they are looking for something that isn't there. What if they only had 1 legal move, would you still be opposed?

It helps only in very few cases.
OTH, it increases the server load, because for every premove on every game the server has to check for mate in one. And it takes away the chance from the loser to recognize the mate in one by himself, which is a useful excercise on lower levels. And it complicates the programming code. And it will lead to a whole new class of ever repeating forum threads.
So I don't think this would be an overall improvement.

You can make it so you have to lock in the premove and can't change it to prevent any possible manipulation. I don't see how this could meaningfully increase load, or take away learning opportunities. This also happens fairly often at longer time controls.

this just happened to me again with half the time in the game left, just waiting here when opponent has 1 move and I can safely pre-move mate in 1. is there anything we can do to address this situation?
