Hey everyone,
I've been playing on Lichess for a while now, and I think playing Hyperbullet can act like a rating boost. Based on my experience, a player who is 2300 in 1 + 0 is much stronger than someone who is a Hyperbullet OTP (One-Trick Pony) 2300, which creates a significant imbalance in the rating system. Hyperbullet and Bullet require very different skill sets and player profiles. Bullet demands much more tactical awareness and real chess experience, while Hyperbullet is more about mouse speed. Additionally, it's relatively easy to seek out a Hyperbullet player whose ultra rating is around 1500 and farm them.
Abusing these strategies, in my opinion, undermines the current rating system. It would be nice if it could be changed, though I doubt that will happen. If you read this, I'd love to hear your opinions too.

Just be happy you are not a variant player :)
But yes, this is true for many time intervalls. But also don't think we want too many ratings so I think we can live with it as it is.
