Maybe I am too dumb, but I'm just interested.
I've started an own new tournament. Nobody joined. I tried again. And again. Then I tried to find my own tournament on the lichess page. Couldn't find it. Then I looked for other (maybe) low visited tournaments. No match.
Why can I create a tournament, if nobody can find and join it? Is it just to create arenas for friends? Or did I miss anything?

Yes, user created tournament do not show on the Lichess tournament page by default (it was changed last year due to lockdown when number of players online doubled and kept creating custom arenas and crash the page so they just removed it ever since).
In order to have people join it you have to send the link to someone, you can do so by pm on Lichess or directly outside Lichess. Or you could create a team here and send a unique message to all the members in one go automatically (max 7 per week).
Edit: when I said "by pm on Lichess" I meant to people who know already about it and expect the message. Not random people, that's advertising and can get you reported.
