Help me to enable two-factor authentication

Lichess sent me "Please enable two-factor authentication to secure your account."

I don't know anything about how to to do it or even knowing what factor authentication is.
Thank you.

When your password becomes insecure, Lichess detects it and sends you this warning message.

Two-factor authorization is when hackers even know your password, they cannot enter with your account for an email shall be sent to your device which will verify the account.

If you uninstall how will you then access the websites you secured with 2FA? You might be able to access them by email.
Then deactivate the 2FA to go back the old fashion way. Pull out that old chessboard.

It's a free and open source app for Androids.

Maybe it will do for you....

Rather than scanning the QR code, write the QR number down and save it in your home.

If you get a laptop, that QR number will come in handy when you set it up with 2FA.

Since you will have saved your QR code on the same equipment, then your best to put a password on that software too.

So its going to be a process like ...
Start lichess
Enter user name
Enter password
Click on the 2FA program
Enter another password to generate a 2FA set of numbers.
Copy the 2FA numbers over to the lichess login.

A door that's closed, is not locked.
A simple password is like a door that's closed.
If you want to secure it, than double up on the locks.

So try to learn to use 2FA until they invent something better.
Better safe than sorry.
