Feature Request: Puzzle Reset Button

I think it would be helpful to have a "reset" (or "replay") button on the page of a puzzle. Currently, when I miss a move and click "view solution", the page says "puzzle complete" (even though it's usually not; there are often a few moves remaining in the puzzle), but there's no way to get to the beginning again.

(If I click the "back" button to return to the start position, and play the correct first move, the computer does not respond by playing the responding move. But a reset button would start it at the beginning and allow the user to play the whole puzzle again.)

Perhaps obviously, I'm not asking for a second chance at the *points*, just a second chance to play through the puzzle.
I'm not sure I understand your issue...when I miss a move and decide to view the solution I can go back to the first move of the puzzle by scrolling the moves in the notation box. It is highlighted with an orange rectangle as borders.
When it says "puzzle complete" it just means that you can no longer solve the puzzle by yourself and if rated, you can no longer earn points.
Quite obviously the system stops the puzzle at the move you are willing to see without jumping you at the end of the sequence, so that you can still try to find it yourself. Of course, as you said, you will have to manually move the piece.

What you want is the possibility to replay the puzzle in an unrated mode once you have failed it in rated with the bonus of the move that you didn't see in the first attempt. So basically starting the puzzle at the second move (or whatever move you needed) of the original sequence and have the computer play the rest automatically again.
You can do so by restarting the entire puzzle through lichess.org/training/history or by just opening the puzzle in another tab.

So perhaps a better suggestion would be a button that allows the player to see only the next move and continue from there in an unrated mode, instead of the entire solution.
If I understand Anderson correctly, he's basically asking for the way it works on [the other site - not sure if it's okay to say the name here]. Over there, when you miss any move during a puzzle, you can opt to click the "reset" button, which starts it over, though without points (by then, you've already lost the points), so it still *feels* like playing a puzzle. (In my experience, it works that way on other apps too.) Here, after you miss any move, it's no longer a puzzle, but merely a *position*, if that makes sense.

You don't have to go all the way to the other site to see what I mean. Open the Lichess app and fail a puzzle. There's a "retry" button right there. I'm just asking that such a button be added to the Lichess website, for consistency's sake. :-)

(Yes, the app, just like the website, incorrectly says "puzzle complete" when only one move has been presented, but at least the app has a "retry" button so I can play through all the moves. The website doesn't have this, so after seeing the incorrect "puzzle complete" message, there's no way to keep going.)

Do you use the Lichess app, or only the website? If you use the app, or have access to it, have you ever failed a puzzle on the app? (I fail most of them, I think.) When you do fail, and click the "view solution" button to see the correct move, there is then a "retry" button in case you want to try again.

All I'm asking is can we have the same button on the website puzzle page.
Ah, yes, I was conflating the two sites/apps. So there are basically *four* places I do puzzles, if we count the sites separate from the apps: Lichess website, Lichess app, Chess.com site, Chess.com app. Three of them have the reset/retry button -- the only one that doesn't is the Lichess website, which makes it feel like the "odd man out."

(I also sometimes do puzzles on another app too, I think it's called "Chess Coach Free" or something. On that one, if you pick the wrong move, it *automatically* resets so you can try again.)
I think you can get what you want by clicking the direct link to the puzzle (next to the arrow-through-a-target icon). That reloads the puzzle.

If what you really want is for all chess sites to have a similar interface... I guess that's a different conversation.

Ah, thanks! That works perfectly. I didn't know exactly what that link up there did. Problem solved.

Note that it was the confused Mr. Fry who brought up the other website. :-) I just wanted Lichess's website to operate more similarly to Lichess's own app (which is what I usually use). But your advice about the link at upper left is perfect.

EDIT: I am unable to edit my opening post, but if I could I would note Mr. McGroves' solution for any future readers.

Ha. "The Confused Mr. Fry" is actually my full legal name.

Yes, I noticed that after I posted my comment. Much like chess, where I see the flaw in my move only after making it. I should play more "slow forum".
