I would like to suggest to disable / hide (made clickable) the top menu while are playing because i'm a little clumsy and when my mouse goes too high it opens the menu (because the :hover pseudo class) and i'm also to slow to close. Yes, I have a lot of problems and I'm bad at chess too :P
PD: I know about the zen mode

If you're on a computer, you can just switch that zen mode on by clicking on "z" on the keyboard or on your profile. And to deal with this problem, play longer time control to have all the time to click on the piece and click on the destination square (don't drag and drop if your mouse is too unstable because you can risk mouseslipping)

But getting out the board can be before or after I select the piece to move. But I think is not a very common problem

Thank you for the suggestion.
Well, I don't know if that ever become a feature, since the issue you have is very special.
But there is a workaround for you - with a Stylus-browser addon.
Install:
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/styl-us/ (Firefox)
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylus/clngdbkpkpeebahjckkjfobafhncgmne (Chrome)
Then, create a new user-style and paste the following code:
#topnav > section:nth-child(1) {display:none;}
#topnav > section:nth-child(2) {display:none;}
#topnav > section:nth-child(3) {display:none;}
#topnav > section:nth-child(4) {display:none;}
#topnav > section:nth-child(5) {display:none;}
#topnav > section:nth-child(6) {display:none;}
The toolbar will be completely gone, all you will have is "lichess.org" in the right corner.

Wow I didn't even realize this was a issue. I might use this myself!

Thanks #4, Funkmaus, I will use that, but I think it may be a problem in tablet (I don't have one) if menu activates on hover
