For the past week when I am doing drills etc, after a few moves the computer will just freeze. It says "computer thinking" and no matter how long I try waiting it wont do anything. Has anyone else had this problem or know anything about it?

I've noticed the same issue.
In my testing this problem only exists when using Chrome Version 79.0.3945.88 - I switched to Firefox Version 70.0.1 and the computer doesn't freeze anymore.
Hope this helps!

might have to do with WASM since PNaCl has been dropped for local engine analysis (that's the browser executable code that lichess sends when you are in a lichess session). There has been a change lately. i don't know the exact date that lichess has made that change, but that could coincide. anyone can confirm or infirm?
@SteelWill1990 I don't know those surface machines. what kind of OS? the win32 able or the hands-tied-behind-the-back kind? if the latter, is WebAssembly really portable, or optimized for portable devices or embedded but weakly portable to full OS type of computers, i mean full machine access windows or linux? where PNaCl used to work?

Seems to be a problem with Stockfish WASMX having issues on Chrome 79. I am using Chrome 80 Beta, and I also have the same problem. Refreshing the page seems to do the trick. I would tell the developers about this, as it most likely will be super easy to fix.

Thank you everyone for all of your help! I just downloaded Firefox so hopefully I wont encounter this issue anymore.
@DrChemo I tried to find someway of informing someone who could possibly fix the issue but I couldnt find any way to contact them.

I'm having the same issue on Android and Chrome. It seems to only happen when the computer has just 1 eligible move to make.

Thanks for reporting. This should be fixed with the next update (https://github.com/ornicar/lila/commit/bf31821c5187dcaa4c7a669cf352ebbec80aeff9).
