This sounds like a reasonable idea - until you think about it: imagine getting multiple challenges at once - how long do they stay open for? Which do you accept? It could generate a Gunslinger
syndrome, where everyone 'has' to challenge the top players.

I'm just trying to figure out what he thinks is unique about this. People already send notifications to join their games via telling them that they're offering a link for them to join, so what's the
difference between just sending a graphical alert? It's a notification either way...text is more informative, plain, and simple. And more efficient on the server.

Private v Public, perhaps? Either way, there's no real 'need'. Keep it simple, I say.

Private message notifications are easy to see since the "Inbox" counter is at the top of the site. Shows you in an orange icon if you have a new message.
Otherwise, hell. MSN, phone chats :D tons of more conspicuous ways to alert someone than sending out a graphical notice.
