Bring back Android split screen mode support

I found some posts from 2-4 years ago which mention lichess Android app supporting split screen mode, however when I try using it under Android 9 currently, the app says split screen mode not supported. Would be awesome to have support back esp for 10" tablet users like myself as the board is really too big otherwise.

Use the website or fix the board ratio

Using the web site does work but is suboptimal. Specifically on touchscreens it's very easy to accidentally scroll the window instead of moving a piece esp when playing bullet. At the moment I'm thinking maybe I could find some extension or write some userscript to disable scrolling.

How do you change the board ratio? I've tried touching and dragging everywhere I've been able to think of but the board didn't seem to be resizable in the web interface or the Android interface.

Anyone know why they removed the split screen feature from the Android app? Does the feature still work for anyone?

I've found I can use the "taskbar" app to force lichess to run half screen. It seems to work fine. However I can't run another app on the other side of the screen, it is just black.

I happen to be on a Chromebook (they also support android 9 apps) and using taskbar + the chrome pip (floating video window) extension allows me to use lichess on the right half of the screen while playing YouTube on the left. On Samsung Android devices Good Lock + Multistar may be usable to do something similar. When I get around to it it looks like you can re-enable support just by editing the manifest file of the app.
