Does the board editor even work for variants? And if so why does it not work for any position I tried.

Have you selected a variant on the left or bottom? It works fine for me. But ofc, it can't magically guess what variant you want.

I guess it maybe should have a way to get the horde and rk starting position on the board though. But I guess you can just go to analysis, switch the variant and then open the editor from there.

@benwerner I tired that but it still didn't work. The "continue from here" button doesn't show up unless I switch it to standard.

Ah, that's what you mean. Would have been easier if you'd have been a bit more specific. You can't play FromPosition variants since FromPosition is essentially a variant on its own.
