First of all, you shouldn't hijack threads. If you have an issue, post it in your own thread.
Secondly, those URLs are not direct links to the image. If you go to the gallery one, right-click on the image there and either pick Copy image address or Open image and then copy the URL, you'll get the link that you need.

First, thanks for your more detailed advice. I recognized that the links I shared don't look like they're direct to an image. But selecting Open image or Copy image location after doing a right click equivalent on my mobile is what I've tried before and both give me the first link I already posted (the 2nd was more desperation after 1st didn't work and to show 1st wasn't simply the main link to the page displaying the image). I get expected direct photo link results when I tried a random news site but don't with sites like imgur and giphy which are what are specifically recommended here.

Second, I wouldn't want to hijack a thread and didnt feel I was doing so. I thought a response to my q could possibly help OP and maybe even others make quicker use of your advice in the thread and at worst would be a brief tangent that a) plainly wasn't an attempt to guide the overall thread elsewhere and b) had little likelihood of even being able to do that. I would agree, though, that if I had included the two links with my q it would've at least given less of any hijack vibe. And it isn't lost upon me the slight irony now of replying to a comment expressing concern about hijacking.

Third, thank you again. As this isn't turning out to be a quick thing as I had hoped and OP apparently isn't having a similar problem I'll now try sorting this out elsewhere.

I see, you are using mobile.
Normally the link would be https://i.imgur.com/{ID}.png or .jpg. I'm not sure you can use .webp links here. So what you can do is go to that gallery URL, enable desktop view of the site in your mobile browser and then open the image and copy the URL. Or otherwise, copy the ID and try .png or .jpg with the link above.
