Are notifications possible in Correspondence chess?

When playing Correspondence over several days, each player has to continually be checking in to see if their opponent has moved. Are texts messages or emails possible, to advise there's been a move made? Thank you.

Well, you kind of do get a notification in the lobby: You will see an orange tab pop up in your ongoing games if I'm not mistaken, which should tell you that someone has moved.

If you have push notifications enabled, then when you open your browser you should see a pop-up box announcing your opponent’s last move, and suggesting that you click on it to reply. (I believe this setting is toggleable in your browser itself, rather than in the Preferences menu here.) And if the browser was already open when he moved, this should happen in real time. 🙂

Always check the number of games where it's your turn.

And if your time is close to running out, you get a PM.

I guess i didn't word my question very well. I should've asked: If I'm not online, is there a method to receive an email notification (or text) that my opponent has moved, so i can then open a browser, go online to play my next move?

I do understand that there are some signs to notify me if I'm playing other Lichess games. I've not found any way of receiving a notice on my phone, email or text, letting me know my opponent has moved.

I doubt this would improve most users’ experience. As a rule, correspondence players don’t require immediate notification. The beauty of such a game is you can walk away from it, and you don’t need to check back more than once a day. 🤷 By design, there’s no hurry. (Plus, if you’re waiting a long time for your opponent, you can always play without him for a while, by conditionally premoving.)

As TCF said, on the Lichess homepage there’s a tab with your “games in play.” So if you’re on your phone or at your computer, and you’re curious, just open up the site and check. And if you’re not near your phone or computer, how would a text or email help? … Personally, I’d find it annoying. I actually disabled push notifications, since I don’t want to be nagged while I’m doing other things. I check this site when I check it.
