Anonymous Pairing Pool Be Like

If you don't have specific knowledge of the algorithms, perhaps you shouldn't comment.
Do you have specific knowledge of the algorithms? They are all public. You may want to start with lila/modules/pool/src/main
/GameStarter.scala, and see how that interacts with UserRepo.

Aborting lots of games as Black will not help you get games with White.

@mcgoves if I wasn't talking about anonymous games, it might be! Did you read the title of the post? You guys kill me.

@bloocoat23 Thank you. This is useful feedback. However, one advantage of playing anonymous is facing a wide range of players and see different responses. At tournaments, I won't always face people at my level either.

You're right. I was thrown off by the weird grammar. Hipster? Millennial?

Edit: habitual be

In that 2005 University of Massachusetts study, groups of black and white children were shown images from Sesame Street. In the crucial picture, a sick Cookie Monster languished in bed without any cookies, while Elmo stood nearby eating a cookie. “Who is eating cookies?” Jackson asked her test subjects, and all of them indicated Elmo. “Who be eating cookies?” Jackson then asked. The white kids replied that it was Elmo, while the black kids pointed to Cookie Monster. After all, it is the existential state of Cookie Monster to be eating cookies ...

@Cedur216 I'm rude? This is one of my first forum posts and I already regret it due to the ridiculous responses from people like you who just need to feel superior and didn't even bother to read the title or understand the complaint.

I don't abort as black when I first start playing each day, but when I get black 3 or 4 times in a row, yeah, I start aborting.

I would also point out that when I am trying to practice a black opening, it actually works in my benefit, but that doesn't change the point that I still get black more often than white.

Also, I was fooled by your expectation of non-random behavior when playing anonomously.

In any random system, there are long asymmetrical bursts. If you want the colors to alternate, the system would need to keep track of you (and everyone else), contradicting what 'anonymous' means.

@mcgoves Yes, it's intended to be read the way the article is explaining. It's very oddly explained for the boomers, but that's essentially it. However, I figured the words "anonymous pool" would make it clear about when I'm having the problem.

Honestly, I never actually expected anything to be done. This post was originally intended to be humorous and maybe to vent a little. I should have left off the last sentence about "do better". But it is frustrating when you can't practice your new white openings.

It works well though when you want to practice new black openings! I've had that experience too.

@mcgoves a systematic approach isn't necessary, but random would be nice. I have been experiencing the issue for as long as I can remember, which is again why I didn't actually expect anything to be done. I just figured everyone else has the same problem and could relate to the post.

Unfortunately, your post follows (is in the midst of?) a never-ending stream of angry people complaining about repeated black pairings with their non-anonymous accounts. The "trolls" are mostly responding in an automatic, knee-jerk fashion.

I suspect it is random. People have a tendency to remember the annoyances more than they do the things that don't get in their way. If you took the time to count several (I don't know... 200?) anonymous pairings, you might be surprised by the totals.

And if it isn't (pseudo) random, someone would need to collect evidence to prove it to the devs.
