I would guess that most people don't know the first thing about it. Therefore ethically it seems at odds with what Lichess is trying to create. An honest enjoyable openly transparent chess experience for everyone across the globe.
I'm not following the logic here. Perhaps it's a language barrier thing. KB usage only "seems real", "ethically" for a group of people? No. KB usage IS real, for everyone, whether they play chess on Lichess or not. And it does not "ethically" "seems at odds" with what Lichess is "trying" to create. They HAVE created a free chess site. The app is available in the app stores of huge, for-profit companies. etc.
I've seen nothing on this site which suggests KB is banned. Nor is it clear how Lichess would ban it. Sure, stick some text in the FAQ but you cannot tell whether a browser has an extension installed. You'd have to infer it from move times and other behaviour. There'd be false positives. It would probably make fast time controls less popular. It's one of those level playing field things; you too can use it, and if you don't you might be at a disadvantage.
