Why are these forums so quiet compared to other sites?

Is it due to the chess captcha, people can't be bothered? Or are people more interested playing on here? I have noticed that trolling is literally nonexistent on here, so that's a plus.
"trolling is literally nonexistent on here" If only that were the case...
Me neither. I think it's great that there's not much clutter, trolling and nonsense. I hope it stays that way. The best kept secret for online chess - LiChess.
Great job, mods!
I think they mute the trolls without telling them they are muted, i went years not knowing people weren't getting my messages lmao I was chatbanned (revoked now) but from my end it looked like my messages were going through... very clever lichess :D
By the way, in case of ad hominem attacking I keep on reporting and receive not few notifications that people get banned. I don't see who exactly but I have strong suspicions.

Yesterday I saw on the profile of such a guy that he wrote some postings recently but they were not shown in the public thread. Aha...

PS: now the profile don't show them either, removed!?
I saw an opponent, had played 113 games but had a 1500? rating and his stats were in very light numbers/letters so that you could barely see them. Does that mean he's semi banned? (I thought he may have cheated in our game...it was taking a long time to make moves plus his first 7 moves were StockFish8 perfect against my offbeat opening.) His training stats is the only thing that shows up in regular black/bold print.
@DavyKOTWF

It's nothing to do with any sort of ban; it's because the games played were all casual.

Only rated games count towards making your rating non-provisional; you can play thousands of casual games for all that's concerned :)

EDIT: As pointed out by armourbuddy, the bit about the SF8 moves doesn't really mean anything.

In the game in question, the opponent played a first move of e5, which doesn't take much insight to play.

Then you made a 1 move threat, he defended it. Then you made another one move threat, and he defended it.

Then you made another 1 move threat, he defended it. Then you made another 1 move threat, and he defended it and made a 1 move threat of his own.

Then you took a piece with check, and he made the only legal recapture. Then you retreated from his threat, and he castled.

Nothing in there that requires a whole lot of chess skill to figure out, honestly; it certainly doesn't require an engine to fathom :)
@DavyKOTWF
It may be that your opponent doesn't play rated games (games that affect your rating), as it's possible to do so on lichess. Also, it's not that hard to play perfectly for the first seven moves as there's tons of opening theory that could cover the first several moves for any opening.
