Who is better. Tal or Alekhine?

i made a bracket where it had the top 20 players right now and the world champions it was double elimination and in the final it was tal vs alekhine. which one do you think is a better chess player???

Tal could continuously find such crazy winning ideas. I think he was the best magician of the middlegame.

Alekhine is better. He was playing perfectly last years, calculated more difficult sacrifices than Tal, and was much greater philosophier, that Tal. Tal has a lot of incorrect sacrifices, trying to win using The Time. And the consequense of incorrect sacrifyes - Tal started to playing positional games, because Karpov gave to him some lessons. Tal was playing very beautiful, but we must play not only beautiful, but also very strong as Alekhine. And, what is also important, Alekhin was drinking a lot - so Alekhine was Perfect.

Some people can say, that we cant compare two chess players..but why? If Kasparov won Karpov, who is playing better? If Carlsen won Caruana and have good statistic against him, who is playing better? People must erase their stereotypes and start to thinking to their own mind (please dont read as "people must to finish to play chess")

Even if Botvinnik is not an option, putting Alekhine or Tal before Botvinnik is totally clueless.

Hard to tell, both drank themselves to death. A close race!

I agree with @erivi . Botvinnik beat both of them (YES! Tal aswell. Remember 1961?).
Between Alekhine and Tal? Tal would win, because in his later years, his CALM POSITIONAL style in combination with amazing invisible moves was unbeatable (only downside was his physical condition).
