Whats an IP ban?

My friend recently "cheated", and now he is telling me that he cant play with me because his ip is blocked or something. does anyone else know about this???

You gotta ask him. I have never been banned like that before,lol.

@Tanmachess An IP ban is when someone's IP address is blocked from using lichess. This is put in place to ensure cheatres cannot make new accounts and what not.

It is until they are given a second chance. If they aren't give a second chance, then it's permanent.

Lichess probably do ip ban in these scenarios,

Scenario 1, cheat, and lied to mods by appeal.( Some people think lichess appeal is a second chance to lie)
Scenario 2, multiple cheats with new accounts repeatedly.
