What do you think of Anatoly Karpov's statement?

What do you think about the 12th world chess champions comments on the decision of Switzerland to refuse him an entry visa?

This is what he said:

“If a Russian has a French visa, he must go to France. Who has German - to Germany. I have a multiple-entry Schengen visa for five years, issued last year by the German authorities. We knew about it, so we wrote a letter to the Swiss embassy in Moscow.

We received a verbal answer that they see no obstacles and with a German visa I can enter Switzerland. Just in case, our embassy in Geneva issued a note and sent it to the Swiss government. The issue was resolved at the highest level. And everything worked out. At least there was such information.

Then the process went on, I had to move in, but the position of the Swiss changed. Apparently, they appreciated the international situation.

The film was screened on September 27, at the same time the referendums in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions were ending. They connected one with the other and realized that for them the screening of the film is not a politically necessary event,” said Karpov.

“This is not a simple bureaucracy. This is an attitude towards Russia and its citizens. We must take into account that now Russophobia has reached its highest limit. In Europe and America, it is already at the level of the genocide of the Russian people.

During the trip, I managed to make a video message to the audience. I wrote it down and handed it over, participated. Although, of course, personal presence is a completely different matter. The Swiss Federation wanted to show the film. But the visa story has nothing to do with sports or chess,” added the twelfth world champion.
Just the fact that he uses those fake referendums to prove his point says everything. If there had anything to add to his political history and unconditional love for Putin.
Karpov is currently a member of the Duma, he's pretty deep in it.

He's pretty strong line Putin so... yeah. Sad.

A screening of the Russian film "World Champion" (2021), telling about the match between Karpov and Korchnoi in 1978, was organized at the UN headquarters in Geneva. The organizers invited Karpov to this event.
not good or chess, not good for russians, nor for the neutrality if Switzerland
@Varigby

Would you care to explain why you think it's not sad that Anatoly is part of the Duma?

Eugene Radchenko:

>State Duma is a part of the legislative branch. It is the lower house of the Russian parliament (the upper house is called Council of Federation). Its building, roughly one block away from the Kremlin, was built in Soviet times for the State Committee for Economical Planning.

>Moscow Kremlin [there are “kremlins” in most of the historical Russian cities and towns, the word simply means a fortress or citadel] is actually an ancient fortress in Moscow currently housing famous museums as well as important state buildings (most of them built in Tsars’ times). Traditionally the working offices of the Soviet and Russian leaders were also located in Kremlin, thus it came to be used as an informal name for the Soviet and then Russian leadership (similar to “White House” in the USA, “Downing Street” in the UK, or “Élysée Palace” in France). I am not sure how much time Putin actually spends there (he also has a number of other working residences). The Presidential Administration offices are located in different buildings although not far from Kremlin. The Russian Government (Council of Ministers) is also in different place.
I used to like Karpov but seems Kasparov was not kidding when he described him as a establishment man .
Pretty disgusting, he knows the reality in Russia .

Varigby just downvotes all rational comments, I don't think you'll get an actual opinion.
