Ways to improve in chess

@sfumatosauce that's a nice interview.... i would've liked the interviewer to ask carlsen, re: his i guess horrible temper on losing, whether he would rather not be a bad loser, or whether that is a hidden (or not so hidden in his case) strength.

i feel the best way to build your tactics is online ------ it's kind of challenging, as the various sites are all different... it's hard to figure out which sites are most appropriate for yourself...

lichess seems ok, so far.... not great, but ok so far...

oops... i actually blundered on the captcha... maybe i need to just do a million of those.....
Tactics are good, but I wouldn’t over-estimate them. It‘s rather like the „stopped ball“ in soccer, e.g. corners, penalties, free-kicks.

Don’t forget playing whole games, analyze, some pages of a book, some opening hints from a DVD or some recommendations given by stronger players. You need everything, and tactics are not everything. Moreover, you need some „practical tactical feeling“, not a „stopped“ exercise.
