Time and chess.

Time and chess have always been united. But never as much as now, with bullet chess on the internet. A new generation of players has emerged that only manages time better. It has nothing to do with chess skills. There are already very bad players really fast. Everything is reduced to speed. What's good about this? All the benefits of chess are diluted, what's a pity.
Even the world champion prefers to play some bullcrap. His fellows have caught up meanwhile regarding chess (Caruana).

I think 3... Be2 is a mistake; Bf5 would do a better job controlling the center.
Why on earth didn't that person take the queen? It wasn't a premove. They took two seconds, which in this game is an eternity. Was it on purpose?

Look at it from the other side! It's a possibility. No one pressure you to play bullet/blitz if you don't like it. If you want you can play on OTB games only with classical time control.

We will see :)
@Sarg0n:

That's a fair point. However, both MC and Fabiano are playing a mix of blitz/bullet and tournament chess. It's fair to say that the top players spend the a fair share of their "chesstime" with OTB-relevant activities.

the same cannot be said about a lot of other players specializing in flagging + cheap tricks. Very fast time controls (1+0 and faster) surely contribute to this state but I am not sure whether it's limited to them. I've experienced a tendency to very "result-oriented" playstyle in 3+0 or 3+2 as well (focus of flagging, banging out close-to-lost openings, playing for one-movers) and chose to take a break from this site as the result.

I admit that I'm not a good blitz player but watching videos on chessexplained's channel [the playstyle of his opps] confirmed my decision even further.

Imo it's about "don't care about quality" not about the occasional bullet game. Even though I won't deny a possible correlation.
With prevalence of engine cheating the strong players are almost forced to play bullet.
Cheating with computers is really ruining this site for me. I just played a game where I after 30 moves my opponent still had over 5 minutes remaining in 5+3 game. So over 30 moves at far less than 3 seconds a move and reasonable play.

Other cheaters know how to trick detection by turning their computer on and off at key points of the game. The most obvious are the ridiculous opening players who then play brilliantly. Others turn their computers on when in trouble.

Analysing my games I can see exactly when the computer started playing.

Makes me wonder why Lichess cannot detect such obvious cases.

That is not even mentioning the pathetic sick mind set of the cheaters. Talk about messed up!

Maybe we could start a group called Humans Playing Chess and have tough enforcement where even a hint of cheating is detected.

I do not know. Just trying to think of some solution. It is really taking all of the fun out of this site.
