Retiring from competitive chess

One says that one should leave on a high note.

My last tournaments were all pretty successful -at least for my standards- so I think it is a good time to say good-bye to competitive chess. After 30 years in business I have seen probably everything. Like Judit Polgar or Garry Kasparov I will continue to study, train pupils, comment and analyze chess in future. Just refraining from playing chess in competition.

Furthermore there are some other hobbies I will spend more time for.

Cu guys. Stay chessed!
Seriously? Who cares if some random anonymous dude stops playing chess?
@Sarg0n
Garry and Judit played professionally and like Peter Leko it can be very strenuous, time consuming and stressful.
But since you probably don't make your money playing chess and it's just a hobby for you I don't understand why you want to quit.
You can keep playing for the fun of it.
Or is chess no longer fun for you?
It would be a pity if you leave Lichess. You are a valued member of the Lichess community, not only because of you of your many valuable forum contributions.

I agree with speedcobra. Who cares if some no-mark amateur chess player retires from playing tournements? I mean seriously, who the hell does he think he is? A professional? ha ha
Indeed, Tony Miles said that the most important trait a chessplayer needs is a warped sense of humour.

What do you think he thought of toxic fellows? (who even can't read a calendar for the record)

PS: I won some highly decorated tournaments in the last years - and those won't be the last. ;)
@Sarg0n -- I was gonna say ... after all that work, not converting the "CM" to IM or FM (or even NM)???

But, alas, I agree with needing a warped sense of humor. (No joke there. April Fools!)
Yeah, I don't have a sense of humor and you are full of yourself.
