Hello, I am jrobichess from YouTube. I started playing chess in 2007 and vlogged my learning on http://www.youtube.com/jrobichess . I took a break from chess in 2011 to 2014 due to a number of real life events, including a major life-changing natural disaster that I was in ground zero for. After the destruction and rebuild my passion for chess was re-ignited and I started vlogging my chess journey again.
I have tried many chess sites over the years, including FICS, ChessCOM, ChessCube, in addition to others, but when I found lichess a number of weeks ago, I was absolutely amazed. This site and the work Thibault has done is absolutely AMAZING!
Beautiful layout, plenty of free tools, virtually no lag or disconnects, and an amazing culture! I just wanted to say hello and that I am very glad to be a part of this growing chess community, and I will be pounding out the info about this site in my videos and on Twitter as quality free chess sites like this deserve as much word of mouth for them as possible!
I would also like to thank Thibault for having for having a great policy in terms of streaming and I encourage anyone interested to start vlogging and/or streaming your chess pursuits. You will be pleasantly surprised by both the gains in your overall chess strength but also the cool dynamic people you get to meet when you put your stuff out there. You only live once, might as well share your journey with people while you're walking it!
Take care and may the strongest moves come quickly and clearly in all your games!
