I admit, this is not as clear as it could be. With respect to hand and brain, you are using any external assistance, but probably not to strengthen your knowledge or gain an unfair advantage. So maybe, it is not clearly cheating.
That's always the problem when rules are trying to forbid motivations instead of actions.
