I think they realize that they need to actually study chess and work hard
what if they dont? possible to think a 1971 can have fun all the way to 2300 and beyond?

Maybe we'll get better answers on non chess matters but need to know more about your life and experience.
Half the fun is the studying & watching paint dry is exciting ... I think some Chess concepts are worthy to be learnt no ? Some Chess games that have been played have so much content you need to see what's important
