does sleep affect your chess

does sleep affect your chess? and how many hours of sleep is recommended to play chess better?
The physical conditions also matter, when I play a serious OTB game I usually sleep 9-10 hours.
Of course, it affects health and memory. Chess players in a tournament sleep more than other people. There is a story about Spassky, who laid down in his hotel room, woke up fit and well and looked at his clock: only one hour passed? He had slept for 25 hours.
I find it impossible to play chess while i'm sleeping. So based on my experience the answer is without doubt yes, sleep does affect your chess.
Sleep does affect my chess, but I won't tell you how or you might exploit my weakness and beat me :P
Maybe better way would be to ask: Does chess affect your sleep? And again, based on my personal experience, the answer is yes. How many times have i dreamed of checkmating my opponent, whereas in real life i'm the one getting mated.
It affects the tactical ability severely. Long-term strategical thinking remains ok but you are prone to fall victim to minor tactical skirmishes or hanging stuff.

But you don’t attack the Queen’s wing in the Dragon when you are tired...
