Different ranking between modes

Don't you think that sbmm should look at ranking in different modes? I've stumbled upon FM on rapid 1050 rank. Guy had 2500 on blitz and 10k games.

I'm aware of how salty I am but isn't that unfair?

It could get unfair if they did that because if someone is say 2400 ultra because they're just really good at moving fast, but only like 1800 rapid, it doesn't make sense for them to have to play people rated higher than their rating simply because they're good at ultra. The same could apply the other way round; just because a player is good at rapid doesn't mean they are good at something like blitz. Unfortunately, match-ups like yours sometimes happen, but luckily they're rare.

#5 You can't ask that as it would lead to public shaming.

Maybe he is doing a 1000-2000 speedrun

One's skill level can vary based on time controls. Not everyone is good at fast chess (bullet/ultrabullet). But an FM being in the sub-1100 range for Rapid is ridiculous as they would start at 1500 and should not be losing many games in this range. The particular FM you played likely sandbagged and lost games to play against lower rated players.

#8 suggested a speedrun, which is possible. But in such instances a rating refund is appropriate and the run should be cleared with Lichess before one does it. At the end of the day though these experiences aren't a big deal as they are relatively rare.

Yeah it happens and I looked at the account and like #9 suggested hes def sandbagging his placement games. It sucks when it happens but you kinda just have to move on, after all its only a game. Although I do think you can report players for sandbagging but im not sure. Probably not worth it anyway.
