Chess.com, or Lichess?

Lichess has a sleeker, more minimalist design and aesthetic, is smoother, is free and open source with 0 advertisements. It's the best hands down.

Chess.com does have Nakamura though. But you can watch Naka on twitch or whatever if you want to.
Chess.com is notorious for ego driven mods polluting the community. As good as Nakamura is, all attention has to be on him and his Twitch followers. Chessbrahs kinda started that. Yes, they are very good at chess, but there is no room for recognition of others. As soon as you try to contribute, you get called out on it and ostracized from any productive conversation. Invariably, it gets down to "I have been here longer so therefore I own the rights over this part of the site and I am always correct." Those who have also been regulars support them in a mob rule fashion.

Now, with lichess, I haven't been on long with this account but I was hoping to be part of a vote chess group where we could talk about games and positions. There used to be solicitations to join teams, but maybe this has been deterred due to so many COVID players now making small teams. Are there healthy ongoing non-toxic teams with players between 1500-2000 that do tournaments?

It would be great if we could get commentary on the Sitges tournament and there is now a Chinese one I see with players like Ju Wenjun, Wei Yi, and Yu Yangyi.

But all this means is you have to get off your Bezos Amazon ego soapbox and stop putting on Twitch shows that only revolve around you because you are the highlight of every gathering. You have to take second seat and heed the moves of other players. Other players who are 1000 ELO points higher than you.

Maybe that day will come, both to chess.com and lichess. Thank you for letting me voice my opinions.
Lichess is better because:
1. Nice people
2. 100% FREE ( Like REALLY not like chess.com )
3. Not laggy for gamers like me
4. AWESOME Streamers
5. Last but not least we have horsey. chess.com has this disgusting green pawn for there logo EEEEWWW
I like Lichess for everyone except badges. What can I say, the need for constant kudos has gotten to me... I want my achievements for all the things.

But it isn't enough to make me go there. The interface and free analysis is much better here.
I use both regularly and there are pros and cons to each.

I much prefer the interface and puzzles on Lichess. Computer analysis is free and uses SF12 instead of 10. Correspondence games seem much more popular on Chess.com. The lobby here is usually pretty barren. There are more titled players on Chess.com and even a weakling like me can play them now and then. I've never once seen an open challenge from a titled player on Lichess. I plan on continuing to use both sites for different things.

When I have friends/family who want to get into playing online I usually recommend Chess.com just because it's easier to find other beginners (<1000) to play against.
These posts are so pointless and irrelevant. If you enjoy chess.com more then lichess, we have no problem with you playing there OR here, or whatever split. Just don't post about it in the forums! My personal view: I was on chess.com in summer 2019, but hated the design and limits to non-premium users. I moved to lichess in April, and haven't regretted it ever! Lichess is so much better than chess.com in so many ways, namely the EXISTENCE of any cheat detection, nicer design, friendly mods, active communities, and interesting blog posts, to name a few.
