chess ratihgs

i Don't think he (civiter) understood implications of the rating, The Fide rating allows know when we are close of be master (FK and FM).
I know what ELO is in professional Chess. I only talk about sites like lichess.com, Chesscube, etc. If you want ELO FIDE, go and play in the sites where you can play with GM, FM and others. Here or anothers sites for standar players. What's the difference in have 1500 or 3000? Play, enjoy and leave the ELO in peace. Bye
Thanks for your explanation Chez. It made everything clear for me.
I normally have 1900 - 1975 rating here and about the same in real life. I now have 1794 rating here because my mouse doesn't work well anymore, but I haven't bought a new one yet (and I still sometimes try playing for rating; I've never cared much about rating, both online and in real life). I don't play chess on other websites anymore, but I used to have much higher ratings than 1900 on other websites (I don't know the exact ratings). I don't mind that the ratings are lower here, I would like it better if we would lose less rating points when we lose a game (and probably therefore also win less points when we win a game). It sometimes takes a long time to find an appropriate opponent (especially if you have a high rating) and then they often only want to play one game, so when I get distracted by something that happens in my home and I lose that one game on time (or when my opponent just plays really well), I often lose many points and it takes a long time to get those rating points back (I can't challenge players with 400 rating points higher than me because there aren't any online). Smaller rating changes per game might help to get people to play more games against the same opponent (except when people cheat of course). I like playing 25 games against the same opponent without me or my opponent losing 200 points (when we both win and lose some games).
I Understand what you're say Civiter. The elo is a good indicator of players strength. I have 1950 elo in the Fide but here is 1550 with lucky. now know here the people with 1700 or 1800 or more have a good Rating in the fide.
Yes I think here the overall rating pool is underrated, but I don't think it's a bad thing particularly, just different, here are my current ratings on other websites:

Chess.com: 2200 bullet, 2100 blitz
ICC: 2200 1min, 2100 blitz
Chesscube: 2500-2600 usually
FICS: 2100 lightning
lichess: 1900
Hi all, this is something that intrigues me recently, and started playing SHOGI (Japanese chess) e noticed his huge difference, it encourages me to try to get better information about what sport is harder shogi or chess. this is out of topic but I would love to know what your thinking, thanks.
Go is a Japanese game that is much different to chess and will absolutely blow your mind. Much more difficult but still has the same basic characteristic of being *perfectly balanced*.

This is the best tutorial for go on the internet, hands down:

I also recommend Pentago (completely unrelated to go or chess), which is a relatively new (2005), very simple abstract board game. Simple to learn, impossible to master, much like chess, shogi and go. :P

You can play it at the following address but I recommend getting the real thing.
