Lichess v2 is coming

Would be nice to see some info on the front- and backend tech you will be using to make v2.
#151 Very wise decision. Supporting v1 next to v2 seems like a lot of work for a very small percentage of users. That work is better invested in making lichess better for the majority of users.
I have an old computer I have retired that's like 6+ years old and It can run the supported version of chrome. I would be surprised if It ended up costing over 100 USD.
Thank you so much for putting so much work into making lichess even better!

My curiosity got the better of me, so I pulled the v2 branch of the git repo and set up a dev environment on my laptop. The dynamic resizing is amazing and runs smoothly on my under powered and outdated laptop. I couldn't get it to display correctly on my phone, but that is almost certainly because I am missing some component in my setup. Also couldn't fully view the UI to edit positions in studies. The window came up, but the board to edit was missing. I don't know if that is because of a problem on my end, or if that module hasn't been finished yet for v2. Either way, this is super exciting stuff.

To those worried about the redesign, keep calm. The site runs very fast even on my old hardware. The theme is still immediately recognizable as lichess. The main change that I noticed is that the design uses screen real estate more efficiently.
#163 @EXOprimal Brother, are you laughing)))? I think you have not seen the old computer yet)) mine for more than 11 years. you would see how slow and stupid he is)). let's change ))
@Aprikose It does. I'm not sure of the placement of that information is final, but that information is still there, just lower than the screenshots in the blog post.
@Aprikose Well, technically anyone does. But you have to be at least a little familiar with the technologies that lichess is developed with. The source code for the current version and v2 can be found by following the link below. If you are curious enough there is no reason you can't run the v2 software on your own computer. But a warning though. The lichess software is not aimed at end users. There is no installer for it. You have to set it up on your own. But if you really want to you can set it up.
