Once upon a time, there was a positional player. He was extremely positional that everyone who watched his games ( incl. His strongest opponents ) died because of boredom. Then he automatically became World Champion because all his opponents died.
-----The End-----
I think, that was me.
I don't think so. He was rated about 2000.
@chennis who is this? LOL.
Positional play is more beautiful than tactical play 99.99% of the time. It shows deeper understanding of the game than sack sack mate.
@savagechess2k If you get stronger you'll also appreceate positional play, trust me.
When I was 1500 or so I also didn't understand why people would play positionally "boring" chess however once you get stronger that will quickly change. (for most people, not all of course)
Positional chess is definitely NOT boring, contrary to popular opinion.
I know positional play is good, and sometimes crucial and respect this. I only wrote this to create some action in the forum
(and see if people are positional
And who was that "player"?
You are almost talking about it as if playing positionally was an end, it is a mean.
Tactics and positional game go by hand.
I also hate positional, boring chess. I hate the Phillidor defense cause it is boring and hard to crack.
