That's not funny. That's just dumb. There's no humor in it.
Maybe the OP or people who know the OP's personality get the individual's type of humor. Otherwise it comes across as asinine stupidity. (Inflection, especially using poor grasp of a second language, doesn't carry-over well in text.)
That's IF (whomever) is not mis-interpreting the OP's intent. (Do you know the person IRL? Has that person articulated to you in native-language the original intent? Can you re-phrase or re-state the original joke or gag such that it comes across as funny -- using text??? Or are you automatically defending someone you don't know and need jokes cracked at your own expense, too?)
You know, just the basics. (Because, anything longer than a GIF doesn't have a punchline worth paying attention to.)
What if someone without grasp (i.e. of another language) just so happens to piece together a funny statement?
I've come across those instances, where someone says something funny, but, it comes across funny due to hobbling-together something in another language. (Done this myself.) -- And then you have all the trolls come out saying: "Don't make fun of people." And then you have all the trolls coming out saying: "It was funny." And then you have all of the trolls coming out saying: "Don't be critical." And then you have all of the trolls coming out saying: "There's something wrong with you for not understanding." And then you have all of the trolls coming out, crying about one thing or another, but context and perspective is lost altogether ... but ... it must be something (if not, or altogether another, to whine and complain about).
Okay, so, maybe the OP was joking. But, it didn't come across as a joke, because, you know, you've got idiots in the world who actually do think like this. (Just doesn't translate properly; inflection doesn't carry.)

Your joke was terrible and at best condescending and rather rude... His was funny and harmless. That is the difference between the two... (I'm guessing you missed the joke at least at first read) Missing a joke is not that bad man. Just say, "Sorry, I'm tired" or some garbage and move on... There was no need to try to excuse yourself by bringing up the whole language crap. (IMO) He articulated his thoughts very well. Lol good Night All!!

I didn't think the original post was particularly funny either. but I'm not sure it warranted Mr Charles's response. Personal responsibility is at the heart of chess, in fact I don't see how anyone can play chess at all without showing this essential attribute. unless you're a cheater of course.
I'm sure Mr Charles does not need me to support his right to speak his mind, though, as I presume he would not like to remove an individual's right to make unfunny jokes at their own expense.

Well you have done just that in your post. I have read a few of your posts, and I can tell you I'm tired of all your bullying. Sure, I'm not saying #1 wasn't a dumb request, but that doesn't mean what you said is justified.
I had read in another thread that you have rage issues, and that to calm down you need to shout at other people. Fine. Go scream your lungs out on Facebook or Twitter or any other social media network where that kind of thing is practically acceptable. But not on Lichess.
If I see you one more time insulting and disrespecting other users, I'll report you with links to all your offensive posts I can find (I bet there are quite a lot). Don't say you haven't been warned. If you can't behave in a civilized way, then you don't belong in the forums.
Wow! I wrote this post for a joke. Maybe it is not too funny or smart. OK. But never in my life I wouldn't think it would be so "scandalous"! :-).
Two things always make me laugh: a stick in somebody's ass and the fact that English/American people do not know a language other than their own :-). I don't make mistakes in my language - Polish (OK - sometimes I do). And I really do in English, Russian and Croatian.
