Lichess 2025 MSF Charity Campaign

You've made your opinion clear. That's fine. No one's forced to donate. Regardless, Lichess trusts MSF and is proud to raise money for them.

I also said I would've stopped talking, but the things I said now are an important addition, because not only I don't think advertising is in place here, but also the subjects you are advertising (just as Ono) are questionable, and before I didn't go into detail with that.

@Lichess Worthy cause, and excellent that you're doing this. I'm a bit tourney shy at present, though, so I'm guessing it's okay to donate using the alternate link offered in your post?

To me it doesn't look appropriate to ADVERTISE (let's call stuff with its name) here, especially in a site which claims to be "no-profit, ads free etc. etc.". Even worse, it's not even about chess. And it's not even the first time lichess advertises someone. For example, I wonder why this guy @TheOnoZone keeps getting on the first page every time he publishes something. He is at a weak amateur level, but he sells lessons for $50/hour, basically how much an IM would ask. Of course he has the right to do that, but why does lichess advertise him? With another account, in the forum, I criticized lichess for advertising him and soon after (coincidence?) I got a red mark on my account despite never having violated ToS. Let's see how long this comment stays (or how long before this account gets banned/muted as well).

Another time they even took position about two GMs accused of sexual misconduct lichess.org/@/lichess/blog/breaking-the-silence/ZNTniBEA, which I believe should NOT be up to lichess. I hope they were innocent and sued lichess.
Bro someone really needs to drill some sense into @arvheckjays cuz that is not advertising. It’s just that charities like these never even reach us and lichess is trying to just give a helping hand to MSF.

2373 forum posts, a good part of them probably just pure aggressivity towards those who dare to criticize the lovely and never-acting-in-a-bad-way lichess. You surely spend well your time.

I got a ban for the reasons you mention, but never violated ToS. At the time, I played online chess for over 13 years (maybe you're not even 13) without anything like that ever happening to me, then I attack Ono and boom, ban. It's suspicious to say the least. But maybe it was just a coincidence. Either way the lichess admins abused their power. Believe what you want, I couldn't care less if kids (which you probably are, and your attitude would be understandable), lichess fanaticals and/or losers who blame cheaters for their incapacity don't believe me.
Okay first of all, Ouch that’s rude and second of all no one would even side with you. I mean look at your comment. It has 14 THUMBS DOWN VOTES and only 2 thumbs up votes (at the time of posting this comment). If you can’t understand what lichess is trying to do “advertising” then just stay shut and don’t say anything.

To a certain human here:

If you don't like what a site does, you are free to leave.

But if you choose to remain online and use all the services offered by said website? And still complain? Then you don't have any ground to stand on.

If something is wrong, the impact will be felt when large numbers of people leave the website. Such things happen organically when people are displeased.

I can see your parents didn't teach you the basics of education. "To a certain human here"? Who you think you're talking to? Your brother or sister? Also I'm much older than you, and you know it. To me it was teached to show respect to older people, and I always did it, unless I was the disrespected one.

About what you said, I disagree. I never complained over the advertising. I criticized. It is different. Do you dislike freedom of speech?

I complained about my ban. And I have all the right to do so because I've been publicly shamed for something that, believe it or not, I NEVER EVEN WAS TEMPTED DOING, without any evidence shared against me. I accepted to be marked at their will if they believed they cheated, I accepted it in the ToS. But nobody told me I could have been banned for cheating without doing it. If I knew it I played anonymous.
I play chess online since 2010. Before many here, including you probably, were even born. Years of passion, studying, training. I played real OTB tournaments all over the place in the region where I live, despite the lack of money, the poor results and my serious chronic health issues. And they spit over me as a person and over my huge passion for chess. And now I have to read a kid like you writing this stuff.
Kid, you don't have the slightest idea how angry I am. I am livid, furious. Almost two years passed, but it didn't go away. To be clear: it's not about the account. I couldn't care less about an online chess account. It's the unfair public defamation what I don't accept. My name and surname were linked to that account.
I don't think cheating in online chess is such a terrible thing to do. I just always thought it is one of the most stupid and pathethic a person can do, and I deeply despised people who did them, I find them ridicolous. I can understand it from kids, not from adults. And now I'm labelled as one of them. I feel ridiculed.
I suffered a lot for it. Probably too much. I'm a pathethic loser, a weirdo and a person with various psychological problems. Of course, I can't blame lichess for this. But they unjustly gave me another reason to suffer. And yes, I do blame them for it. And there's no way, NO WAY IN THE WORLD I will ever forget or forgive lichess admins and what they did to me.
If they publicly shared the evidence of my cheating I'd be completely ok. But no. They publicly say I'm a crook and I don't even know why. And since no evidence was shared I can't even defend myself.

I think the staff here, if they banned me in good faith (something I'm not sure at all about), think I'm crazy. Of course, in their view, it's impossible they made a mistake. I must be crazy, in their view.
Well, I'm not. If I was the crazy man they think I am, given how furious I am, be sure at least one of them wouldn't be alive anymore. Some of them are not anonymous and actually very easy to trace. Also each year they meet publicly. If I wanted I could easily hurt many of them. But luckily for them, I'm just a weirdo and I will not hurt anyone.

It was a mistake to write here. Just like it would have been a mistake at the time of Nazi Germany to say Hitler maybe wasn't that nice. Just like it's not a good idea to enter a Church and say God doesn't exist. People here would defend lichess even if they say war is a beautiful thing.
There is something you didn't get: people here in the forum are a vast minority of lichess users. Most lichess users are just chess players, lichess is just a platform to them, not a religion, and they don't waste time in a place like this.
Also, I think very few adults are active in this forum.

Do you like this place? Enjoy. I warned you. Online communities are all bad, and this one isn't an exception.

Stick to the topic of the forum post. Don't try to make this one all about you. It isn't about you and it never will be. Criticize all you want. You are in your right to do that. But to add your own personal dislikes against Lichess? That is wrong, you do NOT have the right to do that here. You do NOT have the right to complain about your ban in THIS specific forum post. You dont get to complain about your distasteful experience on Lichess in this forum post. Just a friendly reminder-this forum post is about the MSF Charity Campaign, not about your experience with Lichess. If you want to talk about your experience, create a separate blog/forum post, or submit a feedback. This isn't the place.
