My feeling has long been those two points: lichess has a rather high starting rating, was 1500 when I joined. My rule of thumb was lichess (at my level) displayed a rating ~200 more than my actual. At the other hand I wonder where starting rating is now at chess.com? I've heard it is around 400. Ten years ago I could beat 1200-1300:s with ease, sometimes I now struggle with 1300:s +/-50. Has the overall skill increased much in ten years? 1200-1300:s often blundered a piece or a simple tactic before...

Great post.
Now it would be amazing if it was possible to scrap the fide data and compare FIDE elo with Lichess/chess.com elo.
Some users have their real name and FIDE elo on their profile, if you find them with a script and could compare data... it'd be amazing
PS: just a suggestion for the future if you accept the challenge ;)
i dont think thats either possible or a good thing becuase firstly opponents of fide would know exactly what we do and online platforms are not very serious meaning you would always play serious when comes to a international rating system on the line but online it is no big dont know about you but im not that very serious online but otb not much of a choice cuase your lifes progress if you want to become great that is depends on fide gm title is 2500 fide if fide and lichess were combined then 2200 fide who is 27-2800 lichess (originally sopposed to be a cm) can become gm due to exeptional perfomance online
for example there are lots of 1600-1700 fide who are rated around same as me online here in lichess but over the board i am 1400 barely defeating a few 1600s and the online cheating also makes it a big factor for the difficulty i dont know my opinion please reply let me know what you think
but for me i dont know or i dont think mixing fide with lichess is a very good idea
