"after every 300-400 rating points you gain, you’ll need to change your openings"
I also recommend to select similar openings,
E.g. Caro-Kann, Slav Defense, London Opening
Pirc Defense, King's Indian Defense, King's Indian Attack
French Winawer, Nimzovich Indian Defense, Larsen
Sicilian, Benoni, English Opening
Fischer played King's Indian Defense, Sicilian Najdorf and Ruy Lopez from a young age and throughout his career.
no comment on first two but he wouldve dropped ruy lopez had he faced my bird variation and that is a fact
I also recommend to select similar openings,
E.g. Caro-Kann,
take them out of theory with dubious lines like hillbilly attack, still working on this
Slav Defense, London Opening
i avoid d4-d5 like the bubonic plague
Pirc Defense,
in my opinion, pirc and philidor are the only openings that justify physical assault otb
King's Indian Defense, King's Indian Attack
both seem dependable
French Winawer, Nimzovich Indian Defense, Larsen
these are special in that the passive setups can turn sharp quickly, which i like, but opponents might sidestep it
Sicilian, Benoni, English Opening
my rule of thumb is e4 first and always meet e4 with e5
What can be the best attacking and good opening to play as black
I disagree, it depends on style:
Najdorf
Ruy Lopez
Poisoned Pawn variations
High-risk variations
Very dull and boring variations
you only need to be better than your opponent, no need to be perfect.
There is this joke: 2 men are seeing a grizzly bear running towards them.
The first man says: "The bear is faster than us. Let's not run away but stay and fight him together."
Says the other man: "I dont need to be faster than the bear, I only need to be faster than you!"
