  1. Mennonite relatively new to the Catalan... I've had good results with it in blitz/rapid, but still not as familiar with the ins and outs of theory
  2. Mennonite I vaguely remember a 45-45 game a few months ago against LIYV or something like that where I played Nd2 and won
  3. Mennonite in that game, I think he pushed c5 with the pawn on d5, and I also had pawns on c4 and d4 and I pushed e4, and it wasn't right
  4. Mennonite might be misremembering
  5. Mennonite not convinced e4 is best but it is most active, I think. might lead to an IQP where I'd have decent play
  6. Mennonite well the obvious idea is Nf6+ and Bxb7. Does give him more activity but after Qf3 I can play Rd1 and reconfigure
  7. Mennonite I should be better here.
  8. Mennonite for some reason c6 wasn't on my radar, but it looks like a good move
  9. Mennonite so if 14.Rd1 Rd7, the d pawn is under an awful lot of pressure
  10. Mennonite think i'll just stick with the original plan, can always reinforce w Be3, plus pawn is still hanging
  11. Mennonite Rac1 and playing to open the c file perhaps
  12. Mennonite ah, he's probably intending Rbd7 next. so I could play d5 to open up the center on my own terms before he does that.
  13. Mennonite I don't feel better here, maybe should just take the draw
