  1. victormanolo if I remember correctly , I need to play e6 and try something on the queens side.
  2. timothyha (6) I don't remember if we can just take on c4 now
  3. timothyha (6) some of my opponents played c5 and tried to win the queenside slowly. Taking on c4 and maybe play b5 stops that
  4. victormanolo 6... will try to take advantage of the weakened b4 square
  5. victormanolo 7... will go with Ne4, other moves do not convince me and I feel like I need to try something now.
  6. victormanolo seems I could transpose to a dutch stonewall, haven’t played that in a while, tho.
  7. timothyha (7) spoiling somebody's Catalan plans is always nice
  8. timothyha (7) they'll have to switch to a new structure in the middle of the opening phase
  9. victormanolo my plan could be to grab that Bd2 then castle, if he plays e4 I will have Rd8 if not, try Nd7 Re8 and e5
  10. timothyha (10) I think the opening is transposing rapidly further to something else
  11. timothyha (10) but the computer later will just find a key position and put a stamp with a name
  12. victormanolo might be a bit risky, anyways
  13. victormanolo guess whites plan is to push e4...
  14. timothyha (12) I have a not-copyrighted-yet idea, "1.D4 is just a DElayed E4"
  15. timothyha (14) White is probably better now, so difficult to get the LSB out
  16. timothyha (14) maybe Be7, Nf6, etc. if White allows all that
  17. victormanolo 14... I am not really sure about e5, but something is better than nothing.
  18. victormanolo 16... DSB job is over in the queen side, time to go back home.
  19. Grzybozbur i was wondering if white could play this and after qd8 maybe follow with dc?
  20. timothyha (19) White may try Bh3 here?
  21. timothyha (19) the knights are too good
  22. victormanolo not much to do in this position
  23. victormanolo maybe I can put some sort of blockade... for a while only.
  24. victormanolo 24... guess is time to accept the fact that the a8 knight will scape... maybe I can try something on the king side...
  25. timothyha Black bishops are really good after taking on e4 and coming to f5 though
  26. timothyha All sorts of mating threats via h3 and d1
  27. timothyha Including Bxf2 when the other bishop is on h3
  28. victormanolo 25 Ng4 looks like a some sort of try.
  29. timothyha Nice find - Black should be ok now
  30. timothyha (29) too complicated an endgame to be played in time trouble
  31. timothyha (29) I also thought Nxf2 was better than Rxf2
  32. timothyha (30) because of the shaky construct of rook and knight
  33. timothyha (30) dark squares are cool though
  34. Grzybozbur but what's white's move now?
  35. k-night-moves b4?
  36. timothyha (31) no, Rg2+
  37. timothyha (31) b4 Rg2+ and checkmate
  38. Grzybozbur b4 qe3 looked good
  39. Grzybozbur ah, b4 opened the 2nd rank
  40. timothyha (31) right, so no Rg2+
  41. timothyha (31) but ok, we have only 5-10 more minutes to go in this exciting game
  42. Grzybozbur wait, but b4 qe3 and white still can't take f2
  43. timothyha (31) mate already?
  44. timothyha (32) no, Bg2...
  45. timothyha (33) perpetual, then
  46. timothyha (34) h6-d2-c1 diagonal
  47. timothyha (34) right now it's Qb3 first
  48. timothyha (34) I can't never guess Mexican tactics correctly :-)
  49. timothyha (34) my friends from Mexico (Victor is one) always defend tactically
  50. timothyha (34) and White king is in a checkmate box, too
  51. victormanolo if Bxe4, Qxc4, Bb1 and Qf1+
  52. victormanolo oh well, nevermind
  53. pioki 31...Rf3 wa
  54. pioki s
  55. pioki maybe mate
  56. timothyha (37) White king is sad
  57. timothyha (37) they probably need g3-g4
  58. timothyha (38) it's a forced draw via Qf1+ then?
  59. timothyha (38) Kg4 is mate
  60. timothyha (38) so cheeky! e4, e3, etc.
  61. timothyha (38) now the rook is also sad
  62. timothyha (41) I'd take a draw a long time ago, given the ratings and match situation, but squeezing like this is instructive
  63. timothyha (41) gg, guys, such a great endgame squeze
  64. Okoros Actually not sure why I didn't just play 21.Nc3 with a very easy win
