The Reason for My Silence, and The Shift of My Beliefs

I was always here, but I was silent. I was watching, but I didn't dare promote what I didn't believe in. I no longer believe that a mere thinking algorithm exists, which would enable humans to reassert dominance over machines.

I still believe that a strong thinking algorithm can make it easier to raise the quality of your play, and I believe in discipline and hard work as factors of improvement. But, even though a thinking algorithm might improve your quality of play, I don't think that it would be enough to defeat computers with any amount of discipline and hard work.

Does this mean the journey ends? I don't think so. There is something I believe in. I believe in connections...

Connections...

There may be none, but I will continue to look. I love maths, and I love chess. Chess and Newton's Cradle was an attempt at finding a connection, but I couldn't find one. But the possibilities are limitless. I can try a countless number of approaches to finding a connection—a connection between a position and the DTM value. That is something I believe in. I believe in connections.

While I had been working on my chess, the normal way, I had also been trying to find a way to connect the DTM value and the position using an equation. I still couldn't, but if we stand a chance against machines, I think this is the way--to combine mathematics and chess to find a connection.

I might not succeed; not everyone will believe. But that is not important to me. I will keep looking, because I want to. Thinking algorithms are doubtless important. But if we are to defeat the machines, I think this is the way.

Thank you for reading. I know this is the shortest blog post I've ever written, but this is something important that I wanted to share with you all.
