Normal players, look at the openings of strong players you like. I do have a soft spot for Irving Chernev's 'The most instructive games of chess ever played' and 'Easy guide to chess' by B.H. Wood. Then play A LOT of 3 minute chess on chess.com. When you have made the same mistake 5 / 10 times you avoid doing it in your league games - sometimes.
