Big fish caught with an opening trap!

OpeningTacticsChess
In this game I faced Karl Zelesco, one of Australia's top players, and won easily after trapping his queen in the opening.

Don't underestimate your opponent

I was a much lower rated player than my opponent at the time of our game. Judging by the speed of his play, he probably underestimated my strength and paid the price. Lesson to be learnt: make moves as required by the position on the board, instead of playing according to what you think your opponent's level is.

Know your openings.

The trap that Zelesco fell for has been played prior to this game. If he was up to date with the latest opening theory, he would never have fallen into the trap.
