ChessAnalysisOpeningChess PersonalitiesTactics
In this blog we will watch Nakamura's best game where he sacrificed his queen a lot of times and won! You will also learn what is counterattack!

The game we will watch is Gelfand - Nakamura Let's start watching this masterpiece!
1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5. Nf3 O-O 6. Be2 e5 7. O-O Nc6 8. d5 Ne7
We have King's Indian Defence where white usually attacks on the queenside and black on the kingside!

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5. Nf3 O-O 6. Be2 e5 7. O-O Nc6 8. d5 Ne7 9. Nd2 Ne8 10. b4 f5 11. c5 Nf6
There is a rule for King's Indian Defence that we should play f4 only after f3 by white and for this we attack e4 pawn with Nf6. If you go f4 before f3 then white can exchange light-squared bishop with Bg4 and it is good for white to exchange attacking bishop.

We can't be slow in those positions! We really need to attack to not be crushed in other side of the board! h2 pawn is white's weakness and we should attack it!

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5. Nf3 O-O 6. Be2 e5 7. O-O Nc6 8. d5 Ne7 9. Nd2 Ne8 10. b4 f5 11. c5 Nf6 12. f3 f4 13. Nc4 g5 14. a4 Ng6 15. Ba3 Rf7 16. b5 dxc5 17. Bxc5 h5 18. a5 g4 19. b6 g3 20. Kh1 Bf8
In those positions white can't go 20.h3 and stop the attack because of Bxh3 sacrifice. In similar positions black often attack white with knight goes back/knight sacrifice and Qh5 later.

The interesting things are starting to happen in this game! Gelfand doesn't take knight and counterattacks Naka with dxc7! And Hikaru sacrifices his queen second time in this game! Top players love counterattacks!
(You can't take queen because of g2 checkmate!)
