Played West German League (1. und 2. Bundesliga) in the mid 80ies with KSF ( Karlsruher Schachfreunde 1853 e.V. ) while being a grad student. Completely gave up playing chess from 1990 to 2021 to complete Ph.D studies and pursue a professional career as university professor of computer science. Now, few years left to retirement start playing chess again.
