The event has concluded now, scroll down to the bottom to find the report and photos. Please note I only managed to take them towards the end of the event, so the event hall has pretty much no boards left...

Welcome to my next report. Now on the Warwickshire Junior Championships 2021.

After a 2 year break since the last event ( December 2019 ), the County's Championships for U18's resumes, fighting for the coveted Shield, and valuable Grand Prix points...
All players in Warwickshire, Birmingham, Coventry and a few surrounding areas can play.

The venue - Kenilworth School ( event has concluded )


There are 6 sections, with some merged based on entries.

They are - U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18.
Ages are based on academic year ( 12 & 13 are U18, 10 and 11 are U16, 8 & 9 are U14 etc. , U8 is Y3 and below )

The U12, U14, and U16 & U18 are all FIDE rated.
All sections are ECF Rated.

The U16 and U18 are merged.

The arbiters are IA / IO Alex Holowczak, and NA Richard Buxton.
The are also a few other arbiters.

Prizes :

There are a variety of prizes!

Medals are awarded based on score ( pictures coming soon!! )

4/7 or 4.5/7 = Bronze Medal
5 or 5.5/7 = Silver Medal
6, 6.5 or 7/7 = Gold Medal

Additionally, all players who play in the final round get a certificate of participation.

The winners of the 19/20 Grand Prix, are also going to be presented with their trophies ( for U9, U11, U14 and U18, both Open and Girls )

Additionally, the winner of each Championship section, gets to keep the shield for the next year until the next championship, where it is return, and refought for!

EVENT REPORT :

A great day of chess, resuming Warwickshire events for the first time in 2 years!!!

Well done to all the champions, who were also mentioned in the ECF Newsletter.
Some photos of the venue, and some photos of prizes will be below.
Other Grand Prix events are due to happen so lots more events will happen!!

Arriving in the morning was great, the feeling being back at this old friend venue ( however I always used to score worse results here..... ) My aim was to better my previous score of 4/7, and I ended up scoring the same..

There were 3 waiting rooms and the dining room to wait around in. The playing hall was the main hall of the school.

This event was also partly selection for the J4ncl ( I think! )
