Very good example for the essential fact one should really examine all forcing moves and some non-forcing on top on that. Here there are many of them, both for White and for Black. Me too, I did not consider Whites gxf5, because subconciously thinking that cannot be dangerous, his Queen is hanging anyway (and gets captured by Rxf6). But in certain circumstances, gxf5 could be the nail in the coffin, so failing to consider it may be the mistake that costs the game. I managed to solve it, too, a bit faster than 18 minutes, an I thnik you are right, writing things down in a clear way takes a lot of time. On top there are the silent moves as Qe7. One could count it as forcing since at least it has the potential to create a mate threat. One has to calculate to see that it is not dangeerous. I enjoyed this puzzle and your vivid explanation of your thinking process, so well-spent time, thank you.
Best wishes
