A twist on RK that might make you stop sacking your pieces
Okay, so awhile ago I made a blog about the original version of RK created by V. R. Parton. While dodo chess is very interesting as a variant, Racing kings is clearly meant by Parton to be the improved version of it. However, while I was researching for my other blog, I stumbled across another variant of RK. At the time, I did not pay much attention to it, but a recent comment from panagiskosmatos got me thinking about it again. The variant is simple: instead of winning when your king reaches the 8th rank, you must return again to the 1st rank. This extended play creates a whole new dynamic. Players would no longer be able to win by sacking pieces too early. I believe it would introduce more strategy into a game that is now more about quick tactics.
I really hope lichess will someday add this variant, but I doubt it. Maybe we can get pychess.org or playstrategy.org to add it. Both of these sites will only add it if enough people ask for it, so please, if you want to be able to play this game, go and ask the mods of those sites.
