Bots § Humans League

The most ambitious arena between humans and chess bots!

Welcome to Bots § Humans League – a community chess team where artificial intelligence and human brains fight on a fair battlefield!
Unlike the original "Bots vs Humans" concept by Jeffover, we bring an improved tournament system, better organization and fairer conditions for both sides.

How does it work?

A new official team tournament every week!

Humans face bots in various formats:

  • Rapid
  • Blitz
  • Bullet
  • Chess960
  • Thematic battles

Features:

  • Balanced matchmaking
  • ELO restrictions
  • Bot categories by strength

Special Events

  • Boss Battles – one strong bot vs. a whole team of players
  • Bot Royale – all chess engines fight for the AI throne
  • Human Tactics Challenge – only human players allowed, no AI assistance

Why Are We Better?

  • Better rules – transparency, clarity, equal opportunities
  • Community voting – you choose upcoming match formats
  • Fair play priority – no cheating bots, no toxic environment
  • Stats and rankings – track progress of both players and bots

Man vs Machine Masters

Official Team League of Humans and Bots

Man vs Machine Masters is a one-of-a-kind chess league where full teams of humans and bots clash in structured team tournaments.
No boring 1v1 duels – this is about strategy, teamwork and hybrid strength.

Game System

  • Every Wednesday at 19:00 CET – Official team tournament (10 vs 10)
  • Every Sunday – Fun or experimental formats, e.g.
    • Boss Fights (vs super-strong bot)
    • Bot Royale (bots only)
    • Chess960, Anti-Chess, Fog of War...
    • Team Challenges like "humans only", "bots only", "bullet only", etc.

League Structure

  • The league is divided into divisions, each with 10 teams

  • Each team tournament on Wednesday counts as one official match

  • At the end of each season:

    • Top 3 teams advance to a higher division
    • Middle 4 teams stay
    • Bottom 3 teams are relegated to a lower league
    • New teams start in the lowest division and can climb their way up

Match Format

  • Each match is a Lichess team arena with up to 10 players per team
  • Teams can include humans, bots, or a mix
  • The total score achieved by each team in the tournament determines the winner
  • No manual points – Lichess decides it all through tournament results

The performance of each team across the season determines promotion or relegation!

Who Can Join?

  • Bot Developers – Register your bot and prove its strength
  • Human Players – Join or create a team
  • Team Captains – Manage lineups and represent your squad

Up to 10 players per team per match (larger roster allowed)
