Chess is a two-player strategy game played on a square board divided into 64 squares of alternating colors. Each player controls an army of 16 pieces, including a king, queen, bishops, knights, rooks, and pawns. The objective of the game is to checkmate the opponent’s king, which means putting the king in a position where it cannot escape capture. Players take turns moving their pieces across the board, with each piece having its own unique movement rules. The queen is the most powerful piece, able to move in any direction along a straight line, while the pawns are the weakest, only able to move forward one square at a time. Chess requires strategic thinking, foresight, and tactical planning to outmaneuver the opponent and create opportunities for attack. It is a game of skill and concentration, often played competitively at various levels of expertise.
