Hello! My name is Robert Hungaski. I am a professional chess player (Grand Master), coach
(FIDE Senior Trainer) and Arbiter (International Arbiter) from the United States. I was born
December 8 th , 1987 in Stamford (Connecticut) and learned to play chess at the age of six, in an
after-school program.
I began taking chess seriously by the time I was thirteen, which is when I decided to become a
professional chess player. The first milestone of my career was being awarded the International
Master title when I was eighteen, in my senior year of high school and my GM title in my senior
year of college. I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut in May of 2012 with a double
major in Philosophy and Political Science.
Since then I have remained an active chess professional, but have concentrated mostly on
coaching. I am currently one the official coaches for the U.S. Chess Federation at international
competitions (such as the World Youth, World Cadet and Pan-American Championships), the
coach of Argentina’s Olympic team, as well as a recurrent Resident GM at the Saint Louis Chess
Club.
